Trevor soon begins harassing Michael which leads him into trouble when Trevor pretends to be someone else (released prisoner Steve Haines) who then threatens Michael's family who are living at home with him; however once Trevor is captured by the Los Santos Police Department he tells Michael that Trevor had done something bad before he left but can't remember what it was so he wants Michael to help him find out what happened which gives Dan Hagen who had been previously working on finding out information about Trevor's past (due to Dan being present when Trevor did something bad before leaving) the task of finding out what happened so that Trevor can return home safely.
Trevor becomes convinced that Michael should help him find information so that he can reveal himself again but does not tell him why until after the two have met up with Carl Johnson and Franklin Clinton on a mission for Franklin's company Invictus Development Corporation (IDC), where they are searching for stolen nitrous oxide tanks which are needed for IDC's work into creating
